How to Setup Orbi Satellite with the Router Wirelessly?
In this scenario, you will learn how to connect Orbi Satellite to an already installed router or a new router without using any wire or cable.
There are three methods to the sync Orbi satellite: Using the Physical Sync button or using Orbi App or via orbilogin.net.
Using Sync Button
- Place the satellite somewhere in midway between the router and the area that requires extended Wi-Fi coverage.
- Plug Orbi Satellite into a power socket.
- There will be a sync button on both the router and the satellite.
- First long press the button on the router for about 3 seconds, until LED on the router starts blinking.
- Similarly repeat the process for the satellite.
- In few minutes LED light will turn completely solid white indicating a successful sync with the router.

Note: If the system shows Orbi Satellite not connecting, then crosscheck these points:
- If you are connected to the router’s Wi-Fi network.
- If you have entered the accurate URL address orbilogin.net or orbilogin.com or IP address.
- If you have entered the accurate credentials (username and password).
How to Setup Orbi Satellite with the Help of Ethernet Cable?
There are three methods that you can use to the connect the Orbi satellites with the Orbi router with the Ethernet cable (LAN).
One Satellite to Router Link
Place one satellite on your desired place in home close to your router. Now use the Ethernet cable and connect its end to the router’s LAN port and Satellite’s port. Now you can turn on your devices and can use the extended Orbi network.

Two Satellites to Router Link
If you have two satellites and a router, then you need two pair of Ethernet cable for the Ethernet backhaul connection. Now, have a look at the steps to make a connection.
- Connect the one satellite with other with the help of the Ethernet cable. Then, link it just one satellite with router via other pair of cable.
- You can connect both the satellite with the router. But the three ports of the router will fill with cable or you will not find any port empty.
Connect Switch to Make Router & Satellite Link
In case of you have a switch with so many ports, you can also use that to connect the devices. So, use three pair of cables and apply these steps:
- Place the switch in between the router and satellites.
- Use a pair of cable to connect the router with the switch.
- Use another one to connect the satellite A with the switch.
- Plug the last pair cable to Satellite B and switch.
You can now turn the devices on and configure them through the Orbi app.
Now, you should learn how to troubleshoot Orbi satellite not connecting problems, which also includes factory reset orbi devices.
Troubleshooting Orbi Satellite Not Connecting Errors
Here, we list major solutions to resolve common errors that you might encounter while connecting orbi satellite. Establish your mesh network successfully figuring out how to connect Orbi satellite perfectly.
Error 1:
Orbi Router and Orbi Satellite not connecting while the LED is continuously blinking amber or red.
Solution:
- The distance between the satellite and the router might be more than the required, try moving the satellite a bit closer to the router.
- Ensure that the router is powered on and has a stable internet connection.
- The router’s Wi-Fi might not be broadcasting, so make sure Wi-Fi settings are enabled in the router’s configuration settings.
- Also, you can restart the devices. Unplug both of them, wait for about 10-15 seconds and plug them back.
Error 2:
After the complete setup of the Orbi network, still there is no internet connection.
Solution:
- Make sure router is appropriately connected with the modem through the ethernet cable in the WAN (blue) port. You can try reconnecting the ethernet cable. Confirm with your ISP service provider, are they facing any outage or network issues?
- Check router’s settings in the app, via URL: orbilogin.net or IP address and make sure the internet settings such as credentials are accurately filled.
- Other minor issues can also be resolved by unplugging the modem from the power source for 10-15 seconds.
- If no solution works, then try reset orbi satellite by pressing and holding RESET pinhole via pen or pin.
Error 3:
Even after a successful Orbi Network setup, the WiFi speed is very slow.

- Router or satellite could be in a poor location. Try relocating the devices to more central locations away from any obstructions (thick walls, huge furniture, much of electronics).
- Too many devices connected might be leading to the congestion, try disconnecting unnecessary devices from the network.
- It might be due to outdated firmware; ensure router and satellite both have the latest firmware installed. You can make the necessary updates through Orbi app or via orbilogin.net.
- If no tip is working, hard factory reset orbi mesh system with the help of the pin.
Error 4:
Wi-Fi devices keep getting disconnected from the network
Solutions:
- Network might be overloaded, reduce network congestion by disconnecting unused devices.
- Devices might not be compatible with the network, or they might not support 2.4GHz or 5GHz bands.
- Check if the both router and satellites are running the latest firmware updates.
- Reset Orbi satellite, by pressing and holding the Satellite’s pinhole button with a pin or pen.
Error 5:
Orbi router or Orbi satellite is not able to connect to the network.
Solution:
- Router & Satellite might be too far for a stable internet connection. Try moving them a bit closer.
- Ensure both the devices are plugged in and are depicting solid blue or white light in LED.
- If they are connected via ethernet, check whether they are plugged in properly.
- Ensure both the satellite and the router have the latest firmware.
